Community Explanation of Customary Appointment Process for Traditional Leadership

During the meeting, community members were informed that under customary practice:

• The Inkosi appoints members of his Traditional Council.
• The Inkosi appoints Izinduna.

The community was further informed that the Inkosi had permitted the community to conduct a nomination process before exercising the relevant customary authority.

The nomination process discussed by the community was therefore understood as a community consultation and recommendation process.
